NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME
NSS UNIT B-26

‘Not Me But You’

The National Service Scheme (NSS), established on 9th November 1969, is a dynamic and impactful program aimed at fostering personal development through community service. It encourages students to volunteer for a minimum of two years, offering a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to society while enhancing their character and leadership abilities.

SYMBOL OF NSS

The NSS symbol is inspired by the majestic Rath Wheel of the Konark Sun Temple, a symbol of timeless energy and progress. The eight bars of the wheel represent the 24 hours of the day, signifying the relentless dedication of NSS volunteers. The vibrant red color symbolizes the vitality, energy, and youthful spirit of the volunteers, while the navy blue color reflects the vast cosmos, of which NSS is a small yet significant part, constantly striving for social transformation and upliftment. The design conveys the balance of continuity and change, embodying the NSS’s commitment to improving the world and society.

AIM OF NSS

The core aim of NSS is to cultivate a sense of social responsibility in students, encouraging them to serve society selflessly, without bias or discrimination. Volunteers work tirelessly to improve the lives of the underprivileged, ensuring that those in need receive aid, whether through enhancing living standards or offering a dignified life. Through hands-on community engagement, volunteers learn valuable lessons from people in villages, experiencing how resilience and resourcefulness can lead to a fulfilling life despite limited resources. In addition, NSS volunteers play a crucial role in disaster relief, providing much-needed food, clothing, and medical assistance during both natural and man-made calamities.

NSS UNIT B-26

Founded in 1972 at Dalmia College, NSS Unit B-26 has grown to encompass 300 passionate students, divided into three active units. Together, they work to spread the ethos of service, making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.
