Master of Commerce - MCom

Prahladrai Dalmia Lions College of Commerce & Economics offers Master of Commerce in Advance Accountancy and Business Management. Master of Commerce is a two year full time master’s program divided in four semesters. The course is affiliated to University of Mumbai. The programme aims at developing accounting, managerial and organisational skills in the learners, and also to promote entrepreneurial skills. The programme opens up a plethora of career and higher study opportunities including company secretaries, chartered accountants, cost/ work accountants, banking, finance and management.

Our college started M.com in Advance Accountancy in the academic year 2004-05 and M.Com in Business Management in the academic year 2007-08.

    • Scope for Higher Studies: After completion of Master’s degree one can upgrade their skills by opting for Master of Business Administration (MBA/UGC-NEY/JFR), Ph.D. etc.
    • Good Remuneration: After completing the Masters of Commerce Course, these graduates can earn approximately INR 5, 00,000 p.a. depending upon their skill set.
    • Financial Stability: M.Com in starting may require a lot of struggle & hard work but one may have both financial stability as well as job satisfaction after completing Master’s.

     

    Research Project Work:

     

    There is a Research Project to be prepared by a student during the third and fourth semester. The objective of the project work is to introduce students to research methodology in the subject and prepare them for pursuing research in theoretical or experimental or computational areas of the subject. The project work is to be undertaken under the guidance of a teacher allotted to a student by the College.

     

    On-Job Training (OJT) & Field Project:

    On-Job Training (OJT) & Field Project  is a practical training approach that takes place in the actual work environment, where employees acquire and develop the skills and knowledge required for their job role. Unlike traditional classroom-based learning, OJT allows individuals to gain hands-on experience while performing the tasks they will be expected to carry out in their professional capacity. A report has to be prepared as a compulsory part of the curriculum.

  • Scheme of Examination (Old Examination Scheme)
    • This programme will have four semesters conducted on the revised pattern using Choice based Credit & Grading System.
    • Each course (subject) in all semesters will be evaluated for 100 marks which are bifurcated as 60 marks written examination and 40 marks internal evaluation, in which minimum of 24 marks in external and 16 marks in internal exam are required to pass a subject.
    • Internal exams are conducted by college and the external exams are conducted by the University of Mumbai for all the semesters.

     

    Scheme of Examination (NEP -2020)

     

    • This programme will have four semesters.
    • Each course (subject) in all semesters will be evaluated for 100 marks which are bifurcated as 50 marks written examination and 50 marks internal evaluation, in which minimum of 20 marks in external and 20 marks in internal exam are required to pass a subject.
    • Internal exams are conducted by college and the external exams are conducted by the University of Mumbai for all the semesters.

     

     

     

  • Career options after successful completion of Masters of Commerce vary from working with private companies and government companies. Students can opt for government sector jobs after post-graduation through various government exams conducted by Union Public Service Commission, State Public Service Commission, Local Body, SSC, FDI, RBI, LIC, SEBI, Banks and Maharatna- Government Companies.

With an aim to go beyond academics, industrial visit offers students a practical perspective on the world of work. Industrial visits are organized by colleges to students with an objective of providing students functional opportunities in different sectors like IT, Manufacturing and services, finance and marketing. Industrial visit helps to combine theoretical knowledge with industrial knowledge.
