The University of Mumbai B.Com (Banking and Insurance) programme is a dynamic undergraduate programme designed for students aspiring to build careers in the financial services sector. The programme offers a strong foundation in banking, insurance, accounting, finance, taxation, and business law, while developing practical skills relevant to today’s evolving economic environment. With a curriculum that combines academic knowledge and industry relevance, students are prepared for opportunities in banks, insurance companies, financial institutions, and related business sectors, as well as for higher studies and professional qualifications.
Under the framework of the National Education Policy 2020, the University of Mumbai B.Com (Banking and Insurance) programme is designed to promote multidisciplinary learning, skill development, and flexibility in higher education. In line with NEP 2020, the course emphasizes conceptual understanding along with practical application, encouraging students to develop analytical, professional, and employability skills relevant to the banking and insurance sector. The curriculum also supports holistic education through value-added learning, vocational orientation, and an outcome-based approach, preparing students for industry opportunities, entrepreneurship, higher studies, and lifelong learning.

The BBI Department regularly conducts a range of academic and co-curricular activities to enrich student learning beyond the classroom. These include guest lectures by industry experts, remedial lectures to provide additional academic support, and industrial visits that offer practical exposure to the functioning of banks, insurance companies, and financial institutions. The department also organizes engaging intra-college events such as Break The Ice and Entrepreneurial Tales, which encourage communication skills, creativity, teamwork, and entrepreneurial thinking among students. Through these initiatives, the department aims to promote holistic development and strengthen students’ academic as well as professional readiness.

5) Ms. Diksha Dhavdekar (TYBBI):
Was selected ‘Best Girl Student of Self Finance Programs for the academic year
2024-2025’.
Won the prize for the BEST DL (Department Leader) in’ ILLUSION 2024’ organized by our college.
Won 1st Prize in Vedic Vogue (Fashion Show) in Josh 2024 organized by NAEMD on 11th December, 2024.
Secured second position in Just a Minute competition conducted by Qknit Foundation on 18th January, 2025.
Won 1st Prize in the Annual intra- college event Mind Booster organized by the BIM program of our college on 24th February, 2025.
Secured third place in ‘ Funtellect 2k25’ “ Where Brain meets Fun”organized by BAF program of our college on 25th February, 2025.

Secured 3rd position in debate competition in the event ‘Illusion 2024’ organized by our college.

Won the 1st position in the intra- collegiate trading fest ‘FYNAMICS 2K25’ organized by BFM program of our college on 27th February, 2025.

Participated in an online quiz competition organised by SIES (Nerul) College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous) (19th July, 2024) and in a quiz competition organized by NSE on investor awareness (18th October, 2024).

The department organises an online workshop for the students of the college on “How to crack Banking Exams?”
With an aim to go beyond academics, industrial visit offers students a practical perspective on the world of work. Industrial visits are organized by colleges to students with an objective of providing students functional opportunities in different sectors like IT, Manufacturing and services, finance and marketing. Industrial visit helps to combine theoretical knowledge with industrial knowledge.

- It gives the students an acquaintance to current work practices to experience theoretical knowledge being taught at their college classrooms.
