Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDG) Cell
The college has established a Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDG) Cell in accordance to the UGC (University Grants Commission) mandate, to ensure inclusive and equal access to higher education for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The SEDG Cell operates independently and safeguards the rights and dignity of SEDG students. It is headed by a chairperson and includes members from various academic, administrative, and student representation, ensuring a comprehensive approach to addressing the needs of this group.
Highlights of the SEDG Cell:
The SEDG Cell operates as a distinct entity within the HEI, separate from other cells like the SC/ST Cell or Equal Opportunity Cell.
The primary goal is to ensure that students from SEDGs have equal access to education, resources, and opportunities for academic and personal growth.
The cell’s responsibilities include data collection, providing financial aid guidance, offering academic and personal support, and grievance redressal, among others.
The SEDG Cell is responsible for upholding the constitutional rights, dignity, safety, and security of students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
