Film Society

The film society of Prahladrai Dalmia Lions College of Commerce and Economics began its journey in the year 2017 with the main objective to discuss film as a form of art. Film Society also organizes seminars and workshops with other academic departments.

Activities:

  1. The inauguration ceremony was held on 5th August 2017 in the college auditorium.
  2. The theme of the competition is “Unity in Diversity”.
  3. The chief guest for the program was Mr.Vipul Mayank. He is a senior executive producer at Channel 9. He was a creative director at Big Synergy and Colosceum. Some of his writing works which are 100+ episodes developed and wrote initial episodes of Na Aana is Des Laado (Colors), screenplay of Jassi during its peak. Other shows done by him are Story screenplay Palampur Express (Sony), Meet Mila De Raaba (Sony), JiyaJale (9X). As a head of Fiction he was a part of core team that launched Star One and creatively steered some of the critically acclaimed shows of Star one like Sarabhai, Instant Khichdi etc.
  • PDLC Film society organized the Photography Competition for all the SFC students.
  • The theme of the competition is “Unity in Diversity”.
  • The best photographs were shortlisted by a professional Photographer and put for exhibition cum sale at the “Aazadi Exhibition” on 15th August 2017 in College campus.
  • PDLC Film Society conducted a panel discussion and workshop on various aspects of Film Making on 7th October, 2018.
  • Shortlisted documentaries made by BMM students of our College were also screened in the programme.
  • The screening was followed by the panel discussion which was chaired by eminent personalities like Mr. Milind Mahale (Cinematographer), also Chief Guest of the programme, Guests of Honour Mr. Hitesh Chaurasia (Sound Engineer & Film Maker and Ms. Sunaina Shukla (Television and Theatre Actress).
  • Various types of Short Films, Documentaries were created by the students.
    1. “A Chronic Lag”- A short film on how drugs can end all your dreams
    2. “A Vision Of Happiness”- The story revolves around a poor guy who dreams of Living a good life
    3. “End Of Innocence”- This short film is about a group of friends bullying a guy and later how they all get killed.
    4. “Phool Dhool Ke”- This is a documentary of a girl living in a slum and describing the lives of people living in slums
    5. “TRAP”- This is a story of two friends who start selling drugs and later how a jealously can ruin a friendship.
    6. “Vikshipt”- This is a story of a girl suffering from “Schizophrenia” and showcases her journey.
  • On 30th August, 2019 the event presented by BMM DEPARTMENT in association with FILM SOCIETY was organized at Prahladrai Dalmia Lion’s College.
  • This event was attended by Chief Guest Manushi Dey, Vice Principal of SFC Shubhashini Naikar, Co-ordinator of BMM Prof. Bhavna Singh faculty of BMM Prof. Minu Paul, family members of various students, senior citizens from around Sunder Nagar area, Non-teaching Staff and Students.
  • The Chief Guest gave a motivational speech. After the speech a game was played wherein all the senior citizens had participated. Then, a few funny clips were played on the projector which made the audience laugh a lot.
  • The B.A. (M.M.C.) department of P.D.Lions College in association with Film Society had organised an event ‘Screening of short films’ on 22nd Feb, 2020.
  • The judges of the event were Mr. Krupal Satghar, he is the owner of Satghar associates and has an experience of about 15 years in media. The second judge was Ms. Aditi Sisodiya. She has a start-up named “Posham Baa”. The platform provides p stage for an artist which helps to rejuvenate our Indian culture. The third judge was Ms. Neha Sharma, she has worked for many radio programmes and her expertise lies in communication subject.
  • The screening started with the first short film Deewar followed by Friends, Ehsas, Mudda, Kash, Like Me, Happy Diwali, Mukka, Puberty, Acid Attack, Inception Of Chai Lovers, Sapne, Toxic Relationship and the last one Swacch Bharat. All the short films had something our society should adopt, learn and be aware of. Besides social messages some short films had funny scenes and brain storming end.
