Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) – BSc.CS

Computers are incredibly fast, accurate, and stupid. Human beings are incredibly slow, inaccurate, and brilliant. Together they are powerful beyond imagination.

– Albert Einstein

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (B.Sc. CS) program was started in the academic year 2024–25 under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This three-year undergraduate program, structured across six semesters, is designed to offer multidisciplinary and flexible learning pathways, promoting both academic excellence and practical competence.

The curriculum integrates core concepts of computer science such as programming, algorithms, data structures, databases, operating systems, computer networks, and software engineering. It also offers students the opportunity to explore emerging areas like artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, and cybersecurity.

Aligned with NEP 2020, the program encourages skill-based learning, conceptual clarity, and holistic development. Emphasis is placed on hands-on training, project-based learning, and internship opportunities, equipping students with real-world problem-solving abilities and industry-relevant skills.

Students are prepared to pursue higher education, research, or employment in diverse areas of IT and computer science.

The B.Sc. (Computer Science) program aims to create well-rounded professionals who are not only technically sound but also ethically aware, adaptable, and ready to contribute to the digital future of the nation.

Our department is committed to the overall development of every Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) student, ensuring a comprehensive and enriching journey throughout their program. We achieve this through a diverse array of activities conducted all year round, fostering growth not just in technical skills but in all aspects of their lives. We also focus on holistic development through continuous engaging activities like Parent-Teacher Meetings,  various intra-collegiate events like Teckshetra, Department  , Best practises  i.e.- Waste  collections, Project Exhibition, These diverse activities ensure our students are consistently engaged and involved, paving the way for their all-round development.

Orientation: Each year, we welcome our First-Year students and their parents with a comprehensive orientation. These sessions provide essential information about the syllabus, examination patterns, college activities, and rules, ensuring everyone is well-informed and comfortable with the program’s structure.

Parents-Teacher Association (PTA) Meetings: We believe in continuous communication. Regular PTA meetings are held twice per semester for students across all semesters. These meetings keep parents updated on their ward’s attendance records and clarify the consequences of falling below the minimum attendance requirements.

Guest Lectures, Industrial Visits, & Quiz Competitions: Throughout the year, students benefit from a variety of engaging activities. Guest lectures by industry experts, industrial visits to leading tech companies, and stimulating quiz competitions provide invaluable industrial exposure and an enriching learning experience, bridging the gap between academia and the professional world.

Remedial Lectures: To ensure every student thrives, remedial lectures are conducted for those needing extra support in specific subjects. This initiative provides targeted assistance, bolstering their understanding and supporting their overall learning process.

Bridge Courses: At the beginning of the academic year, we organize bridge courses on specific topics. These courses are designed to benefit slow learners by leveraging and enhancing their fundamental learning skills, helping them catch up and succeed.

E-Waste Collection Drive: We encourage our students to be environmentally responsible by participating in our E-Waste collection drive. This initiative promotes awareness and action in gathering and depositing electronic waste for recycling.

E-Magazine & Blog: Our talented BSc. CS students annually publish an online e-magazine and maintain a blog. This platform is a fantastic outlet for their creativity as budding IT professionals and is instrumental in cultivating essential research skills in the dynamic world of computing. All editorial work, from content creation to layout, is managed entirely by our students.

Project Exhibition: We organize a dedicated IT-based project exhibition to proudly showcase our students’ innovative talents. This event provides a platform for them to present their practical applications and solutions.

Best Practice

E-Waste Collection and Donating for Recycling Drives

This initiative goes beyond environmental awareness it gives a crucial sense of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable practices in our future computer science professionals. We actively encourage and facilitate E-Waste Collection Drives throughout the academic year. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to collect and deposit their discarded electronic devices, batteries, and accessories in designated collection points within the college. Beyond collection, the department conducts awareness and education via  mini-campaigns, workshops, or informative sessions during these drives.

Industrial Visit

With an aim to go beyond academics, industrial visit offers students a practical perspective on the world of work. Industrial visits are organized by colleges to students with an objective of providing students functional opportunities in different sectors like IT, Manufacturing and services, finance and marketing. Industrial visit helps to combine theoretical knowledge with industrial knowledge.

Objectives: –

Industrial visit provides students a practical perception on the domain of work.

It gives the students an acquaintance to current work practices to experience theoretical knowledge being taught at their college classrooms.

Industrial visits provides an opportunity to interact with industries and know more about industrial environment
