About the program

The B.Sc. I.T. program at Prahladrai Dalmia Lions College of Commerce and Economics is a dynamic academic journey that delves into the realm of Information Technology. Designed to provide a strong foundation in programming, networking, database management, and software development, the curriculum blends theoretical insights with practical applications. This comprehensive approach fosters both technical competence and problem-solving abilities required to address real-world challenges.

Students engage in hands-on projects, seminars, and continuous assessments, gaining valuable practical experience. With its curriculum aligned to current industry trends, graduates of the B.Sc. I.T. program are well-equipped to succeed in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.

This is a 3-year full-time undergraduate program, affiliated with the University of Mumbai.

Starting from the academic year 2024–2025, the B.Sc. I.T. program has been restructured in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 for first-year students, aiming to offer a more flexible, holistic, and multidisciplinary learning experience.

With the widespread use of computers and information technology in every aspect of life, trained professionals are needed to build, maintain, and optimize software and systems. From office automation to decision support and organizational transformation, IT plays a pivotal role.

The University of Mumbai introduced this course to bridge the gap between academic training and industry requirements, producing employable IT graduates who are ready to contribute meaningfully to the tech sector.

  • Intake Capacity: 60 students
  • Eligibility Criteria: Admission is based on merit, considering Mathematics marks in the 12th standard (or equivalent).

Career Opportunities after B.Sc.I.TJob

After completing the program, students can secure jobs through campus recruitment or independently in sectors like software development, database administration, system analysis, web design, or even in BPO/KPO operations.

Higher Studies

  1. Postgraduate Degrees (M.Sc. I.T., M.Sc. CS, MCA):
    B.Sc. I.T. graduates can pursue a 2-year M.Sc. in I.T. or a 3-year MCA to specialize further.
  2. MBA (Master of Business Administration):
    Pursuing an MBA immediately after graduation can accelerate one’s path to managerial roles. Exams like CAT, MH-CET, CMAT, XAT, SNAP, and NMAT are required for admission in India.

III. Studies Abroad (MS/MBA):
Students aiming for the UK can pursue a 1-year MS program (15 years of education is accepted). For the USA, 16 years of education is mandatory—requiring an additional diploma. GRE (for MS) or GMAT (for MBA), along with TOEFL/IELTS, is required.

  • Parent Teacher Meetings: In a year two PTA meetings are conducted.
  • Bridge course on the specific topic We conduct bridge courses at the beginning of the year  to benefit the slow learners. It aims at leveraging students’ learning skills.
  • Workshops and Guest lectures: Various guest lectures are conducted by the industry experts and academic scholars all round the year.
  • E-waste collection Drive : Encourage our students to collect and deposit EWaste for recycling purposes.
  • E-magazine & Blog : An yearly online magazine is published by the students of B.Sc.I.T. department. The magazine aims to tap the creativity of our students – budding I.T. Professionals. It aims to cultivate research skills in the computer world. All editorial work is done by our B.Sc.I.T. students.
  • Project Exhibition : Exhibition of I. T. based projects to showcase students’ talent.
  • Alumni Meet : Meeting organized for passout students for interaction to know their current employment and educational status.
